Children exploring Dalton Bank

The Dalton Bank Local Nature Reserve is 50 acres of woodland and grassland, approximately 2 miles North East of Huddersfield. In 1995 Dalton Bank was granted Local Nature Reserve status. Zeneca, (now Syngenta), joined with Kirklees Countryside Unit (KCU), assisted by members of the local community, to form a partnership to oversee its management and development. Environmental Alliance joined the partnership in 1998.

The site has facilities for disabled visitors, a dipping platform has been erected over a pond as an educational resource, a small outdoor teaching area, information boards.

KCU encourage local schools to use the site for environmental education projects. They hold a number of activity days and events on the site, to increase childrens awareness of the environment and environmental issues.
